Cash registers, Underwood, Olivetti, Hermes, etc.
In the 1990s, it became mandatory for retailers in Italy to have a cash register to record sales and issue receipts.
It was a huge business, and Olivetti introduced its own models. Underwood, which was already part of Olivetti, also introduced a range of cash registers.
Indeed, the cash registers were identical to Olivetti's, costing slightly less but with a less resonant name than Olivetti's. But Underwood also sold quite a few of them, as it also had a fairly extensive support network.
UMF in Italian means "Underwood Misuratore Fiscale", that is Underwood cash register.
Here there are some leaflets and documents. Other will come soon.
