Olivetti College

Hello everyone.

This is the Olivetti College model, circa 1975. Its mechanics are derived from the Olivetti Lettera 25. It was given to me by Melisa, a friend of my wife.

One of the best things about this typewriter is the case. It features a detachable shoulder strap with a center reinforcement for greater comfort when carrying. It's red and has Olivetti written all over it. It has two handles for carrying, with a tie to hold them together. There's great attention to detail.

It was advertised with colorful ads aimed at young people, but also for people who wanted a good presentation for their letters.

The typewriter was designed by Mario Bellini. He also designed the Olivetti Divisumma 18, exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and continued to collaborate with Olivetti in the 1970s and 1980s. During this period, he was involved in the design of many of Olivetti's iconic products.

This is a fairly simple typewriter, without a tabulator.

And here's an Olivetti advertising flyer for this machine.
