Printer Olivetti DM324SL
This is an old printer from the 1990s, the Olivetti DM324SL.
It's the granddaddy of your laser printer. Looking at the laser printers used today, this one seems like something out of this world, and in fact, conceptually, it's very different.
First of all, the printing system consists of a dot-matrix print head. And indeed, that's exactly it: inside the head are needles, which are fired by magnets against the ribbon, and they don't print one letter at a time, but dot by dot, one line at a time, from top to bottom.
And it doesn't use the normal A4 paper we're used to, but continuous-form paper with a perforated strip on the sides. They were obviously designed for printing spreadsheets in a work environment, not for home use. You can also select different fonts directly from the printer.
If you want more information, and to see how it works, you can watch this video. Have a nice day.
This is an experiment, how to print a stencil for mimeograph with a dot matrix printer.
