Olivetti Synthesis

Olivetti, non only typewriters

Throughout its history, Olivetti also produced furniture through its subsidiary, Olivetti Synthesis.

Production began in 1931, when Olivetti created the Synthesis, a horizontal filing cabinet initially intended for internal use at Olivetti.

It was a market success, reaching 600 units per month, and other furniture, such as metal cabinets, began to be produced as well.

In 1939, Olivetti Synthesis was founded.

After the Second World War, Olivetti added new models of filing cabinets, office machine stands, desks, shelves, bookcases, chairs, and armchairs to its range.

As usual, Olivetti paid great attention to the design of its products, relying on renowned designers and planners.

Here you can download a 1976 catalog of Synthesis products. This was the peak of production, with 89,000 cabinets, 56,000 filing cabinets, and 22,000 filing cabinets produced.
