Typewriter Olympia 8 (1942)

A very beautiful standard typewriter, with curved shapes.

This one is a Olympia model 8, from 1942.

The company Olympia derive from the AEG, a very big German producer of electric devices.

AEG was already manufacturing typewriters from the beginning of 1900s, they produced the famous Mignon typewriters, like this model 4 from 1925.

Then they produced also the AEG Model 3, the AEG Model 6, and in the 1930 AEG split the production of the typewriters to another company, the Olympia.

Then Olympia went on producing other office devices also after the war, with good sales, they built typewriters, both manual and electrical, copying machine, dictaphones, calculators, both mechanical and electrical.

Olympia survived till 1990s building these devices, but couldn't face the change from typewriters to computers, so they closed.
